Welcome Office Manager, Becky Spell
Author: Dr. David Dickerhoff, DDS, MAGD, FOCOI
I am excited to welcome the new office manager of Spring Lake Dental Group, Rebecca (Becky) Spell. Becky is a native of Fayetteville and attended Campbell University. She began her career in dentistry as a dental assistant to a dearly missed general dentist, Dr. P.W. Jessup. She eventually left Dr. Jessup’s office to work in the DENTAC at Ft. Bragg (Liberty) with Dr. Robert Calabria, as an orthodontic assistant, supporting the AGD Residency Program.
I met Becky in 1991, when I was going through the 2 year residency program and it was then that our friendship began, as well as her support of my career in dentistry. Becky faithfully served the DENTAC and troops of Ft. Bragg for over 20 years, before following Dr. Calabria into private practice.
Becky was instrumental in helping me with my licensure for the North Carolina Dental Board and then she continued her assistance by helping me to set up my practice in Spring Lake, NC as I transitioned out of the military in 1995. It cannot go without mention that Becky also helped me recruit a team of specialists for my new practice that included Dr. (COL) Robert Calabria (orthodontist), Dr.(COL) Gil Montoya (periodontist) and Dr.(COL) Dan Bondra (endodontist). We were all so young back then!
You may be familiar with Becky if you have been in Cumberland County for any period of time. She is an incredibly active board member of the Community Concerts of Fayetteville and has been involved in countless service projects and has worked in just about every aspect of dentistry over the years.
Becky has always been there for me yet, her greatest allegiance is to her patients. She truly has a heart for dentistry. I am honored that she has agreed to lead our team as we continue our journey in treating each of our patients like a family member. Spring Lake Dental Group welcomes her with open arms. I know you will welcome Becky into our family and not hesitate to reach out to her with any issues or questions you may have.
